Global Category Manager
ESP-Mataró (Barcelona)
As a Global Category Manager – Direct Procurement, you will work closely with teams in a multicultural and cross-functional environment across several countries and interact with a wide variety of stakeholders – from Supply Chain technicians and managers to R&D colleagues and Plant Managers. Navigating these different perspectives and communication styles is a central element of success in this position, so a strong level of intercultural competence and stakeholder empathy is essential.
The role requires a balanced tactical and strategic mindset. Packaging is a highly dynamic and operationally driven category, requiring a high degree of proactiveness and responsiveness to day-to-day supply topics. At the same time, the role must maintain a clear strategic direction: driving category strategies, cost optimization initiatives, and long-term sourcing decisions.
Therefore, in this role, you will collaborate with teams across multiple countries and functions - from Supply Chain and R&D to Plant Management -navigating diverse perspectives and driving alignment.
You will take ownership of a dynamic, operationally critical category, ensure day-to-day supply reliability while shaping its long-term strategic direction
Responsibilities:
- Lead Procurement and Supplier Management of category under Packaging, as part of Direct Procurement.
- Engage with HARTMANN’s division stakeholders on demand and requirements (including CRs) to define and set requirements for suppliers.
- Ensure direct material KPIs are in place to measure and optimize the performance of the Inco categories’ direct material procurement network and sourcing figures.
- Ensure procurement target achievement for the category, including total sourcing costs.
- Define, implement, and execute the category strategy.
- Define, implement, and execute strategic sourcing, VAT, design-to-cost, and TCO projects.
- Perform Supplier Management (phase-in, evaluate, classify, develop, and phase-out suppliers).
- Conduct procurement market research and bring supplier innovations.
- Perform risk management (material and suppliers).
- Ensure negotiation and contract award processes involving relevant stakeholders.
- Ensure all SOPs, work instructions, guidelines, and legal requirements are followed, with additional focus on Master Data and documentation.
Requirements:
- University degree in Business Administration with purchasing/procurement releases. Preferably Master Engineering.
- Experience in a similar position.
- Negotiation Skills
- Fluency in English
